To address declining heat transfer and rising stack temperatures, IGS deployed its online Hot-tek™ convection cleaning technology. Without interrupting operations, the fouled convection section was restored – boosting absorbed duty and improving furnace efficiency. This proactive solution helped the plant reduce firing rates, enhance preheat performance, and support more stable steam production.
Problem
Crude Heater with significant process preheat was overfiring. Convection tubes were fouled leading to High Bridgewall and High Stack temperatures.
Solution
IGS performed Hot-tek cleaning through existing access doors on an existing platform.
Outcome
Total absorbed duty increased with a decrease in firing leading to Increased Furnace Efficiency.
