IGS drives 10% productivity gains and $4M energy savings for major Indian refinery
Integrated Global Services (IGS), a global leader in surface protection and asset optimisation, has helped one of India’s largest private-sector energy operators achieve major improvements in plant reliability and long-term asset integrity. The partnership marks another milestone in IGS’ expanding work across India’s refining sector, where operators are under growing pressure to maximise efficiency, extend asset life and reduce downtime as India becomes one of the fastest-growing oil markets globally.
As India’s refining system operates under more demanding conditions, the need to address ageing infrastructure and prevent performance loss has become increasingly urgent. Small issues can quickly escalate into major disruptions, prompting operators to prioritise proven technologies and proactive maintenance that strengthen critical assets and support reliable long-term performance.
The refinery is one of the world’s largest integrated refining and petrochemical complexes, processing more than 1.2 million barrels of oil per day and operating over 20 fired heaters across India. Like many refineries, it faced challenges related to refractory degradation, process tube oxidation, carburisation and declining heat-transfer efficiency. The operator partnered with IGS to deliver advanced protective technologies and performance-enhancing solutions to extend its assets’ lives.
