IGS and ADM: A Partnership Built on Trust, Safety and Continuous Reliability
Archer Daniels Midland Company (ADM) is one of the world’s leading agricultural processors and food ingredient providers. For over 30 years, they have relied on Integrated Global Services (IGS) technology and teams to protect and maintain their critical CFB boilers at their plants.
The Partnership Begins
The partnership dates back to 1992 when the company was given the opportunity to service one of ADM’s CFB Boilers located in Cedar Rapids. Over the course of a year, IGS proved its capabilities and earned ADM’s trust, leading to it being awarded the work for all ADM’s large circulating fluidized bed (CFB) boilers across their plants.
Continuous Expansion of Services
What started as metal spray coating services has grown into a comprehensive boiler protection program for ADM’s 18 CFB boilers across 4 plant sites. IGS now provides:
- Inspection and reporting to develop scopes of work that ADM consistently approves
- Thousands of square feet of HVTS® cladding and ceramic coatings applied per outage
- Over 200,000 square feet of boiler surface area protected in recent years
- Quality control oversight of complementary contractor work
By taking a hands-on approach and offering additional inspection services, IGS helps ensure all maintenance work is completed to the highest standards.
Delivering Measurable Value
ADM has reaped significant benefits from partnering with IGS:
- Doubling or tripling maintenance-free operating cycles
- No forced outages after IGS took over CFB boiler maintenance
- Recently awarded ADM’s prestigious 2023 Supplier Safety Excellence award for stellar safety protocols
- Renewed 3-year blanket agreement in January 2024
The trust built over three decades of collaboration has IGS positioned as a true partner in maximizing the operational efficiency and lifespan of ADM’s valuable assets.
Recognized for Safety Excellence
In 2024, IGS was honored as a Supplier Award winner by ADM for superior safety performance. As stated by ADM’s Wade Wright, VP of Global Indirect Procurement:
“ADM’s purpose is to unlock the power of nature to enrich the quality of life, and we cannot achieve that purpose without strong partners who share our values and our commitment to driving innovation through collaboration. That’s why we’re excited to recognize IGS who has demonstrated excellence in safety while helping us deliver for customers and consumers around the world.”
IGS’s CEO Rich Crawford highlighted the company’s focus on safety: “Our commitment to safety and quality is foundational. Since 2019, we have scored 4.85 out of 5 for quality commitment and 4.8 out of 5 for site execution, safety and schedule adherence, surveying more than 150 clients.”
Looking Ahead
With open communication, a steadfast commitment to safety, and a shared drive for continuous improvement, the IGS-ADM partnership will continue driving innovation through collaboration.
